If you’ve dreaded the buzzing of your alarm clock every morning since grade school, chances are you’re a night owl. You probably hit snooze at least once daily, avoid meaningful conversation until after coffee (who can blame you) and stay up late whenever possible. On the flip side, if you’re a morning person, you likely wake up cheerful, greet people—even strangers—warmly in the AM (insert eyeroll here) and hit the sack early when your schedule permits.
#Adulting is Hard
And although your preferences for morning vs. night have likely always been the same, it may have not become apparent to you until after you accepted your first real job. Adulting and all the responsibility associated with holding down a 9 to 5 can be a bit overwhelming, especially when your day ends at midnight and starts before the sun rise.
Feel the Rhythm
If you’ve tried to alter your bias toward early-morning activities and failed, you may be scratching your head as to why your body won’t cooperate. According to research, you’re partial to night life if your body’s internal clock, or circadian rhythm, runs slightly longer than 24 hours. Sigh.
