10 Burrito Spots to Celebrate Mexicoma Monday

Our mattress is delivered to your doorstep rolled up like a burrito, but we don’t advise eating it. To cure your craving and induce a Mexicoma before crawling into bed tonight, we’ve put together a list of the top burrito joints in cities across America.

1. New York, NY

Taqueria Tlaxcalli

Located in the Bronx, this taqueria may be small, but it packs a powerful punch. Their massive burritos are stuffed with your choice of chicken, steak, pork, chorizo or avocado and drizzled with a mix of black bean and avocado sauce, chipotle salsa and crema that’ll leave you drooling.

2. San Francisco, CA

Taquerias El Farolito

With their flagship location in the Mission plus two other locations across the Bay area, El Farolito is kind of a big deal in our book. Despite the varied selection, you’ll wanna start with the Carne Asada Super Burrito filled with rice, beans, sour cream, guac, salsa, onion and cilantro. We’d give it a cape if we could.

3. Austin, TX

Changos Taqueria

Changos Taqueria

While this spot’s interior may be bland, the flavors are anything but! Their handmade flour tortillas are the perfect vessel for your toppings—whether you order a Super (vegetarian), Maximo (choice of meat) or the Bongos for Changos Burrito (topped with guacamole).

4. Charlotte, NC

Cabo Fish Taco

We may be biased, but our hometown is home to a taqueria that is cranking out some seriously delicious Mexican fare. And if you’re looking for a new spin on traditional burritos, you’ll find it here. The Honey Wasabi Wahoo, filled with grilled wahoo, rice, mushrooms, carrots, celery, tomatoes, mixed cheeses and topped with their honey wasabi white sauce, is fire—literally!

5. Nashville, TN

Baja Burrito

From their colorful chalkboard menus to their eclectic decor, this Nashville hotspot is funky and fabulous. Their burritos are piled high with the basics like rice, beans, cheese and your choice of fresh veggies, but what sets them apart is their gratis salsa bar. Think: pineapple, corn, tomatillo y mas!

6. Minneapolis, MN

El Taco Riendo

Minneapolis may be just about as far as you can get from the Mexican border, but this place is legit. Walk up to the counter, order an el pastor, carne asada or lengua burrito and enjoy authentic flavors without stamping your passport.

7. Seattle, WA

Taco Chukis

Isn’t everything cuter when its mini? Taco Chukis certainly thinks so! Stop in this hole in the wall in Capitol Hill and order a baby burrito (or two or three) topped with guac, cilantro, onion and salsa.

8. Miami, FL

Queso lovers unite at I Love Tacos. Their Wet Burrito is smothered and covered in queso and served with a side of chips. It’s a plate full of cheesy, meaty goodness that’ll keep you coming back!

Nana

Breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day, so why not start it with the perfect hand-held meal? Nana in the Windy City is serving up a breakfast burrito stuffed with refried pinto beans, Vidalia onions, peppers, quac, queso fresco and chorizo that’s organic and sourced from sustainable ingredients. Now that’s a win-win.

10. Denver, CO

Illegal Pete’s

This Denver staple is blowing traditional fish tacos out of the water. The Baja-Style Burrito is packed with beer-battered fish, cabbage, salsa, fresca and lime and drizzled with zesty ranch dressing. It’s fresh, fast and totally legal.
